    Agenda Policy Update

    February 6, 2012 by Devilmanozzy

I have been updating and fixing up the Agenda Policy, which I hope will be seen as minor.

The only added content is we will also restrict theft and piracy. While this should be common sense, I think having them listed will be a good reinforcement to what is already accepted here. I have also tried to make the language of the words easier to follow.

I'm hoping that this will be seen as minor.

Well my Laptop's fan either needs to be cleaned or replaced. I had a scare earlier today when my laptop made a noise similar to a lawn mower (and it was loud and mechanical, not electrical). I have researched the symptoms and am pretty sure it was something to do with the fan. If it had been my hard drive, I doubt I would have been able to shut down and reboot a hour later without seeing error messages. That all being said, I need a can of air, and most likely wont be able to get it til tomorrow. So I'm going to have to stay offline most of the night. No serious editing for me tonight.

The Brand is roughly as taken from Wikipedia: "Name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller's good or service as distinct from those of other sellers."

Now I am aware of the issues this faces being a open format like a wiki and all. One important thing I had to do to get the wiki's brand off the ground was a vote to agree to the design of this site which is basically the brand itself.

A day ago Ghostbusters Mania (Fan Site) was working on a logo collection and I noticed "once again" we were being left out. Come to find out after a exchange that really they didn't know our brand. I figured out that indeed we don't have much of one shown outside of here. So that brings us to a new issue to address. Here is what …

    Where to begin...
Last month I made a survey on behalf of Ghostbusters Wiki. It was of seven questions for which six had choices to pick from. I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting much. Fifteen surveys were filled out, which wasn't bad considering.

The first question "How often do you visit Ghostbusters Wikia?" seemed to set the tone for the answers. It is pretty clear four people from 2 days to everyday were. But that leaves eleven that will filled out by those that don't edit at this wiki much.

The second question "How do you rate Ghostbusters Wikia's content?" sets the tone for what people overall think of the content. Most answered "great" or "good" which suggests people approve of the wiki overall. Only one slight negative with a "OK". Pr…

(Right from Wikia CEO Craig L. Palmer blog "SOPA and PIPA Situation Summary") "On Wednesday, January 18 at 5:00 UTC (9pm California time Tuesday, midnight NY time Wednesday, 6am Poland time Wednesday) we will be initiating a high-impact campaign that will run for 24 hours. For all users that see ads, the first visit will display a very large (980x365) advertisement that will state Wikia's position on SOPA/PIPA, and if clicked take the user to http://iplaw.wikia.com/wiki/Take_Action_Now ."

This follows the trend by most wiki services. Whatever I feel or you feel, this is happening tomorrow.

It has been an exciting year at Ghostbusters Wiki. But not as active as we hoped. So lets lay out the good and the bad for 2011....

    • The Wiki has went over 2000 articles.
    • Lots of articles are now referenced, and with more information on referencing too.
    • The IDW section of the site, Mrmichaelt has built up in great detail.
    • The Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime section of the site has came a far way, and is maybe the best on the whole internet. (Once again thanks to Mrmichaelt)
    • We have started to branch out to Foreign Markets and we are "starting" to see results to it. (One of my projects)

    • Still need a stronger focus on the film section.
    • The front page is still too confusing to navigate through. We may need a new plan.
    • Our visitors are not engaging in t…

Well to read about this go to Wikia to move our 500+ domains from GoDaddy over their support of SOPA legislation.

This is following the trend by Wikipedia/Wikimedia last week. This is all over Go Daddys support of bill SOPA. I do not support this or the PIPA bill either, but I haven't been talking about it cause I saw it as politics. This however has to be noted.

Well I turned on the updated Expandable wiki Navigator thing. I did it so I can share articles on facebook better, but there is more to it. To those who are interested, links to articles/sections can be put up there. I can't not edit the "On the Wiki" but there is one more slot I don't have started. So we have:

    • 3 level 1 slots
    • 4 level 2 slots for level 1 slot
    • 7 level 3 slots for level 2 slots

It is not my favorite section to begin with, and I really never used it. We Ideally want to cover the community section, and the ghostbusters related articles. Suggests are welcome in comments. Knock yourself out!

I own the DS version of Ghostbusters: The Video Game, and I am stuck! I completed three out of five story missions. In the Museum one, I do fine until I must get the gates open and take out the curater. Problem is: I take the keys to the secuity room, and one control switch opens and shuts the door to the corridor leading to the elevator, one opens and closes a door I can't see anywhere, and the third doesn't work! I can't take the curater on the elevator and just take him out the door. I am forced to abort the mission. HELP!

Now the graph is only me guessing the events over the last 30 years. I think it is time Sony did something with a bit more "uff" to get the brand going again. I'm sure I'd piss off people in the forums with the idea, but a new animated series (sub-recanon) would atleast be useful. Less and less people know about ghostbusters these days, and the generation grow up now is totally in the dark. A video game is hardly going to do it, if you ask me. Sony has planned a MIB 3 to be done soon, and a gb3 or animated series is needed to relaunch the brand. No way around it. GB2 happened in 1989, do the math, add 5 years for age to watch it. How many years ago plus those 5 years was it?

    • Wikia wants us to expand this wiki to new heights.
    • From previous private conversations, I'm aware that I'm the only administrator willing to even work on the idea.

Ghostbusters Wiki was never really a fan community like GBFans, and we're more about discussion on the actually media content than fan projects. September 12, 2011 by Devilmanozzy

I have spoon fed some of these issues about as long as I can, but its frustrating when they repeatedly break a rule after trying to tell them to stop. I wrote the policies pretty good, and if you disagree there are talk pages on them for a debate on it. But ignoring policies after posting links to them on the talk page? I know Mrmichaelt is getting tired of this, and I'm tired of reasoning with it as well.

The front page has a very easy to find section called "Welcoming New Fans of Ghostbusters!" which states "If you are new to Ghostbusters, please read our simple summary of the Ghostbusters Franchise. We also encourage you to read our Introduction Page, which is to help you avoid conflict within the community here.". I guess I could say we…

The grand large internet is full of images that can be found via search engines such as google and bing, but what about ours? Well Wikia has always had a policy of allowing google/other search engines to use images housed on their network like ours. So searching on google for anything Ghostbusters related, we usually show up within the first 12 images or so depending on what you search for. I have been sitting back in this conversation over the last 3 years, trying to reason this whole thing out, but I lost to logic. To me, the Minimates are just doing it better and for $8 you get 2 small figures, and decent detail, but do I really want any of them either?.... No. Everyone is also talking Ghost Trap now, and all I can see is "$120" for a toy?! Sorry, I don't understand this market. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime has been the talk for the last 4 months, but while I have been playing it, I found it would freeze and as of late shut down my computer at points in the game. Well I found the problem, when it runs (menu screen anyways) it took up 50% of my CPU. In comparison Ghostbusters: The Video Game (PC) took up 11% Cpu on my computer on menu screen. This explains the issues I'm having.

However, I have also found a phantom program on my computer tied to Nokia (cell phone computer) that was sucking up 11% of my cpu as well. I should now be over my freezeing/crashing problems. But one has to wonder why this game takes up so much memory.

One thing when I went on this journey back to the films was I knew there differences between versions thanks to Spook Central's Ghostbusters Home Video Image Comparison, which compares the DVD 1999, DVD 2005, and Blu-Ray versions. I own the two DVD versions, so that is what I got to work from.

I have had much to deal with as you all can see. I am going to go with the 2005 version as the source of the majority as it is brighter which I found a positive when screen capping. However, due to issues with the "animated" stuff and it being blown out, I will likely also screen cap from the 1999 for the Gozer/Stay Puft scenes, Slimer busted in hotel, and the Zuul got Dana scene. Note that this is going to take time, as I want decent screen caps for…

Unless I missed something I had a hard time nitpicking this episode. I only found two things.

The Ghostbusters arrive at the power plant after averting the Containment unit disaster. They get out of Ecto-1 and Slimer sits in the driver’s seat and starts playing. The car starts to move. Ray turns around and says, “Hey, the car’s rolling” but it is Peter’s voice.

When the possessed Ecto-1 is chasing the Ghostbusters, Slimer is seen fleeing right alongside them. The high angle shot shows all four GBS running with Ecto-1 in pursuit but Slimer is nowhere to be seen in this one shot.

As the Ecto drives away from the camera and over a hill the license plate incorrectly reads as ECT-1.

In what is the first of MANY of this error, just as the Ghostbusters break in the door and enter the chocolate factory Ray enters first and runs off camera. He is followed by peter, Egon and then another Ray! Actually the character model is Winston but has been improperly painted as Ray. This error happens often in the series.

    Alienbusters?

    April 1, 2011 by Zakor1138

In a franchise called "Ghostbusters" you'd think it would be all about ghosts and other supernatural things. Well, it is, but every once in a while you get creatures from another planet. We got Fuggs, Merks, Kryds and their leader Podsnap. In one Slimer! episode an alien appears apparently. (I haven't seen the episode) Pretty crazy, but not totally unexpected.

The ones I listed above are put into the Corporeal category, but I was thinking that there should be an Aliens or Extraterrestrial category, but I don't know.

What do you guys think? Should there be a special category for aliens? Also, what do you think of aliens being in the Ghostbusters franchise? I think its pretty crazy.

I will be the first to confess Ghostbusters Fanon just isn't working out, therefore it may be time to talk "what will remain there and what moves (back) here. The idea is Ghostbusters Wiki would get back articles that are well known projects. Ghostbusters Fanon would become strictly a place to build and write new scripts and stuff. By no means would the wiki be merged completely.

Ok, so I'm seeking to do something a bit different. I am looking for requests. I plan on doing a few. Rules:

    • This is for either one or two characters (love gb hero and ghost combo ideas!)
    • A suggested background per image
    • With characters and backgrounds, please tell the media they are from (films, rgb, egb,GB:tvg, etc)
    • Crossovers are more than likely not going to happen (unless either I know the media well, or there are a lot of online references)
    • Prefer Ghostbuster related suggestions (Filmation Ghostbusters isn't out of the question however  )

We saw Bigfoot, the Jersey Devil, vampires, werewolves, etc. (Hell, even Satan!) There are some, however, I always wanted to see in Ghostbusters. These are my top 5 spooks I want to see.

A water horse from Celtic folklore sounds cool in my opinion. It lures the people into the water and then drowns them. (Eats them too!) Yikes, sounds scary, after all it seemed so nice letting you ride its back to cross the river. I want the Ghostbusters to …

First off, if you have no clue what I'm talking about, go to the article "Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime".

I have to say, while I am excited for the new rookies and the new ghosts, it seems to be a messy way to deliver it. The game goes through the cemetery and the Sedgewick Hotel again, and are once again battling Chef Ghost?

I am worried that at the end of the day, this game may actually derail plans for more games.

I bought the Ghostbusters: Haunted Holidays TPB from Amazon for $12.14. It released a little later online than in comic shops. It was good to see some of the one-shots that came before "What in Samhain Just Happened?" and also ones I never read. I thought they were all decent 3/5 stories.

"Tainted Love" was my least favorite, mainly because the plot dictated them create a set of one-off equipment. Peter was surprisingly good in this one. It seemed like it'd be totally Winston-centric.

"Con-Volution" was surprisingly funny. The bits with Peter and the lawyer super-fans and the bit where Peter makes up those demon classifications were my favorites.

While I like how readable it is, it is more like reading at a library. Now I'm not suggesting giving Peter shades on the front or anything (I could tho!) but I have been doing some surfing around other wikis and ghostbusters sites. We are one of the dullest places to go. lol

So I'm going to ask to seek permission to redesign the front page. I am looking at Glee Wiki for ideas.

One of the ideas is for a third column that includes recent blogs. I want blogs to be more easy to find and read. On that same column the wiki activ…

I bought Ghostbusters: What in Samhain Just Happened a few weeks ago. The duo of Peter David and Dan Schoening were what convinced me to go buy it.

This was the first IDW/GB comic I bought. I liked the story and all the references. I find something new each time I open the comic to read. All in all, I'd give it a 3/4 mainly because I can see the confusion/angst in having a new entity named after a much loved villain from The Real Ghostbusters. I liked that it was referenced in the title but to stretch it out as a character? I didn't buy into it as much as I should have.

Only issues I had were logistical, I had was finding it in my area, I got the last copy at the second store I went to and the pages were a little stuck to each other.
    But mos…
