Bushwick is a working class neighborhood in the northern section of Brooklyn.
A few days before the Day of the Dead, Rodefhiri visited an apartment house and manipulated a girl named Jasmine into building an altar that tethered Santa Muerte to her bedroom. On the night of the Day of the Dead, the Ghostbusters happened to be in the neighborhood. Special Agent Melanie Ortiz, Egon Spengler, and Ray Stantz took P.K.E. readings of concentrated, benign spectral activity for psychokinetic pattern research. Ortiz was annoyed they were so dispassionate about the celebration going on. After Little Steve's Cousin tried to attack them, the trio witnessed the appearance of a projection of Santa Muerte. Among the crowd who seemingly dispersed was Eduardo Rivera. Meanwhile, outside the 83rd Police Precinct on Knickbocker Avenue, Peter Venkman, Winston Zeddemore, and Kylie Griffin captured a Constable Ghost. They were alerted to Santa Muerte and took Ecto-1a up to the intersection of Central Avenue and Bleecker Street.
After trapping two projections and driving the other one away, the Ghostbusters split up and searched Bushwick for the real Santa Muerte. 15 minutes later, Melanie and Ray found Jasmine and her mother suspended in a stasis-like state. Upon destroying the altar and freeing Santa Muerte, they were released by Rodefhiri grabbed Jasmine and tried to drag her down a portal under her bed. Melanie managed to scare him off and close the portal by throwing down a Trap and opening it. Paramedics attended to Jasmine and her mother outside their home while Officer Monaco and his partner took statements. A flash of Red Lightning streaked across the skies briefly.
