AboutEdit

Corin Howell attended the Savannah College of Art and Design and graduated with a BFA degree in Sequential Art. She was one of the first students of the Murphy Apprenticeship with Sean Murphy. Her first professional project was with VIZ Media LLC for a short Ben 10 silent comic. She worked on a short comic for Hello Kitty, a couple of projects with Bravest Warriors, the Murphy Apprenticeship book, "Café Racer," a project with Oni Press and creator owned projects including "The Owl’s Knight." [1]

MethodEdit

Corin Howell does her work digitally on Cintiq. For special projects, she does draw traditionally. Howell considers her style animated and likes to "push and pull" the characters' expressions and their movement. She experiments with other types of styles as well, from cartoons, to mainstream, to multiple types of comics.

TriviaEdit

  • Howell's biggest influence is from the animation of Glen Keane
  • Howell is also inspired by Juanjo Guarnido (artist for Blacksad), Rodolphe Guenoden (Flight), Sean Murphy, Becky Cloonan, Sergio Toppi and Craig Thompson.
  • Howell is a fan of Transformers.
  • On the Ghostbusters International #4 subscription cover, most of the ghost pirates are visually based on Corin's friends from a drawing group in Savannah. [2]
    • It appears location of this case and the mention of student housing on River Street off the Savannah River might be a nod to Corin's alma mater, the Savannah College of Art and Design
