This is a useful way for sorcerers to gain energy to fuel their various unsavory rituals.

Ivo Shandor, an occult practitioner and architect in the '20s, used structures like these to great effect. One of these focal points in New York caused an interdimensional cross-rip wherein we had to battle the demigod Gozer and send him back to the abyss. Good times, indeed.
