Captain Steel Comics is a long running comic book series created by Len Wolfman.

History[]

The Captain Steel Comics featured the superhero Captain Steel as he fought against the forces of evil such as Dr. Destructo in Delta City alongside Police Commissioner Grady. [1] The comic went on for many years and spawned tons of comics and variant covers. Ray Stantz became an avid fan of the comic and inspired him to become a hero in his own right, one of the reasons he became a Ghostbuster.

In the 1980s, sales had declined so badly that the comic was being cancelled. [2] [3] [4] A month before the final issue, Captain Steel and Dr. Destructo manifested onto the physical plane and drew attention from the people of New York City. The indirect publicity led to tons of orders and the comic was saved. [5] Ray was later deceived by the Copycat who posed as a limited edition comic that Ray thought only he had. [6] Copycat then emerged from it as Captain Steel.
