The Ghost Attractor[1] is an invention of Peter Venkman's whose intended function was to lure ghosts and reduce the legwork done by the Ghostbusters.
History[]
After busting a Bouquet Ghost in the Central Flower Market, Peter decided there should be an easier way to catch ghosts. In a short amount of time, Peter utilized random parts such as egg beater, a woofer, stereo tweeter.[2] For a time, it seemed to be a success when hundreds of ghosts gathered outside the Firehouse. Egon Spengler was baffled by the device and guessed somewhere there was a hair pin and wad of bubblegum.[3] He later realized the Ghost Attractor was actually the world's first ectoplasmic energy capacitor.[4]
After Egon made a few simple modifications, it stored and collected energy from all 1612 ghosts near it.[5][6] The Ghost Attractor would be crucial in neutralizing Mee-Krah. Peter triggered the Attractor and it released a giant surge of stored energy onto Mee-Krah, effectively vaporizing it.[7] The stress of the event, however, took its toll and the device collapsed into pieces soon after. Egon was interesting in building another but Peter never wrote down any notes.
