Kate[2] is the current living descendant of Ichabod Crane, the inspiration for Washington Irving's tale, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow."[3]
History[]
Kate is the latest in family line to be stalked by the Headless Horseman.[4][5] In order to protect herself, she lives in an apartment near a bridge, the only known weakness of the entity. However, anyone who became too close to Kate also became a target of the Horseman. During a party, Kate's jealous boyfriend, Bud, stormed off and was pursued by the Headless Horseman.
The Ghostbusters learned the truth and formed a strategy to capture it. Kate volunteered to lure the entity into the trap by wearing a special helmet programmed to broadcast her psychograms. She then entered the Ecto-1, where psycho-dampers would hide her presence. The Horseman then tailed Peter Venkman to a bridge, concealed by a hologram. When the Horseman was immobilized on the bridge, the Ghostbusters allowed Kate to open the Ghost Trap and end the family curse for good.

- Kate referred to Ichabod Crane as "Uncle Ichabod" which implied she wasn't a direct descendant.[6]
- In the first draft of "The Headless Motorcyclist"
- Kate's condo is seen to face a bridge. In the first draft, the bridge is confirmed to be the Queensboro Bridge. As described in the draft, the opening scene pans from the United Nations Headquarters, up Franklin D. Roosevelt Drive along the East River then stops at the bridge, trucking in on posh, riverside condo building.[7]
- Bud and Kate got married at the end of the story.[8]
