Nori-ra[2] is a Japanese movie monster that became a ghost when toxic waste had bonded with old horror movies and turned various monsters into ghosts through a complex ectoplasmic chemical chain reaction.[3] It is composed entirely of seaweed.[4]

History[]

Nori-ra appeared in Tokyo Bay and capsized a fishing party then terrorized civilians at the shoreline. The Ghostbusters were brought to Japan and found that they were only effective at blasting the ghost after setting their Proton Packs' power setting to 4000.[5] After several blasts, it vaporized and left no trace of Psychomagnotheric residue.[6]

Description[]

Nori-ra is a writhing mass of ectoplasmically charged seaweed the size of a house[7]

Powers and Abilities[]

For the most part, it's the size of the ghost that is a problem.

Trivia[]

  • Nori is the Japanese name for various species of edible seaweed, while "-ra" is a very common suffix in the names of kaiju, or giant monsters (i.e., Mothra, Ghidora, and Godzilla's original Japanese name, Gojira).
  • The ghost is from "Lizardo Meets Nori-Ra," a monster movie from the 1960s.[8]
  • On page 13 of Ghostbusters Issue #3, Nori-ra is referenced on a movie advertisement.
  • On page 4 of Ghostbusters: Get Real Issue #4, in panel 4, Nori-ra makes a non-canon cameo on the far right of the panel on the red cap.
