When the Extreme Ghostbusters brought back a possessed Mastiff they couldn't exorcise, Egon Spengler used the Scanner to take initial readings. He surmised it wasn't a standard local possession but a remote one.

- On page 17 of Ghostbusters Volume 2 Issue #5, the Scanner makes a non-canon cameo on the shelf by the Slime Scooper.
