The Article Naming Policy is a policy that covers what names for articles are allowed.

Subpage Rules (Subject/subpage)Edit

There is a trigger in place that can make "Subpage". Currently, when a character that is seen to be different in canons may be Subpaged back to the Movie version.

What is a Canon Proper Name?Edit

In disputes over names, there is a list of rules to determine what is a "Canon Proper Name", which is the best outcome for a article name dispute. There are a lot of references to consider, and to be honest they all have they ups and downs. However, these lists will help guide the importance of these items.

FilmsEdit

In the cases of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.

  • 1. The word markers. (example: Weaver Hall plaque in GB1)
  • 2. The dialog in the movie. That meaning what is heard and what is subtitled.
  • 3. Identifiable places of objects in the Real World (example: Columbia University which was never spoken of, but landmarks are clearly shown.)
  • 4. Scripts, with the last revisions being the most important.
  • 5. Novels with the understanding that the names may be made to suit the novels writers creative interests.
  • 6. Merchandise such as cards, posters, collectables.

Retro-caning happened in regards to Slimer (was OrionHead in GB1), and likely there was other Retro-caning, for which the Ghostbusters II movie is the successor.
The Ghostbusters: The Video Game (Realistic version only) can add reinforcement to a spelling. It is viewed as a successor to Ghostbusters II and Ghostbusters. However, it is not as strong of canon as the two movies, therefore it by itself can not respell a name. (example: Sloar is Ghostbusters subtitles which is canon, but "Slor" in video game is not canon.) Likewise, names used in the video are not to be used as canon against names from the movies. (example: Library ghost is the name in Ghostbusters, however the video game revealed her name to be "Eleanor Twitty"that is not canon in the naming of a article, because the movie is stronger canon.)

CartoonsEdit

In the cases of The Real Ghostbusters, Slimer!, and Extreme Ghostbusters.

  • 1. The word markers. (example: Carnegie Hall plaque in episode Banshee Bake a Cherry Pie?)
  • 2. The dialog in the movie. That meaning what is heard and what is subtitled.
  • 4. Scripts, with the last revisions being the most important.
  • 3. Novels with the understanding that the names may be made to suit the novels writers creative interests.
  • 4. Merchandise such as cards, posters, collectables.
