The Lafayette Square is part of the second oldest park in New Orleans. It was designed in 1788 by Charles Laveau Trudeau and named after Gilbert du Motier Marquis de La Fayette.
When the Ghostbusters first arrived in New Orleans for a job, they were accosted by an angry mob in Lafayette Square. The mob feared the Ghostbusters were after their beloved Marie Laveau. In order to "safely" clear the crowd without injury or property damage, Peter Venkman blanketed the area in Psychomagnotheric Slime.
