Mr. Chen raised a daughter and ran a curio ship in New York's Chinatown. Years later, he tried to dissuade protection racketeers by stating he had no money. The Jade Cobras proceeded to wreck his shop. Jodi promised to have their money in two hours. She took The Dragon's Eyes and unknowingly released Gu Mo from his prison. Gu Mo possessed the father and began stealing bones from people. Once the Ghostbusters and Michael Wu neutralized the gems, Gu Mo was expelled from the father's body. He soon regained consciousness with some short term memory loss.
