History
The Real Ghostbusters
While Tulane University hosted the International Para-Psychological Expo, Mardi Gras was in full effect. Of the four Ghostbusters, Peter Venkman planned to go to Mardi Gras. They were forced to temporarily change their plans to fight the ghost Malachi. In search of spare parts, the Ghostbusters drove through New Orleans to Tulane. After Malachi was dispersed, Peter went onward to New Orleans. He was unaware Mardi Gras had just ended.
IDW Comics
During a summer tour, the Ghostbusters stopped in New Orleans to take on private job for a Mr. Thibodeaux. The locals suspected the Ghostbusters were going to capture the ghost of their beloved Voodoo queen Marie Laveau and formed an angry mob in Lafayette Square. Once Peter Venkman neutralized the crowd with positively charged Psychomagnotheric Slime, they moved onto the Garden District to meet with Thibodeaux and their true client, Marie Laveau. The next night, on St. John's Eve, the Ghostbusters trapped Marie Laveau II before she could exact her revenge.
