SCEP-TECH (short for Sub Compact Ectoplasmic Tesseract) [1] is an experimental combination miniature Proton Pack and Ghost Trap. [2]

History

In the early 1990s, Egon Spengler completed a new device he named "Sub Compact Ectoplasmic Tesseract." It was a miniature combination of the Proton Pack and Ghost Trap. It emits a containment stream and pulls in the ghost via Psychomagnotheric vacuum created by a reverse in polarity. [3] [4] [5] It has a viewing window so that the Ghostbusters can see the ghost(s) that are imprisoned inside. However, the SCEP-TECH can only go for a few short bursts and if abused will overload, freezing everything around it. [6] Egon demonstrated its effectiveness on Slimer in exchange for a pizza with extra pepperoni.

In Mexico, Ray successfully used the SCEP-TECH to confine and trap a Quoatle after nearly losing it in a chasm. The four Ghostbusters used their packs to simulate the SCEP-TECH's Psychomagnotheric vacuum and freeze Quetzalcoatl.

In 1997, Janine used a device similar to the SCEP-TECH, which was called a Ghost Vacuum.
