Spirit World Gates are portals from the Spirit World that provide ghosts direct access to New York City.

HistoryEdit

As part of another revenge scheme, Idulnas triggered an incursion of the Spirit World on the physical plane. A majority of paranormal sightings were reported at Central Park. [1] The Ghostbusters stopped on Fifth Avenue and investigated. Idulnas possessed the Alice of the Alice in Wonderland statue and taunted them. They opened fire on the statue but Idulnas quickly vacated it. A Spirit World Gate tore open before them and revealed an army of silhouettes and the overwhelming stench of death. They battled throughout sections of the park closing gates and banishing ghosts back to the Spirit World, culminating in a battle against Idulnas and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Types ofEdit

There are 25 types of Spirit World Gates encountered:

  • Name: Release Gate
    • Description: As they are able to rescue Trapped Ghosts from your clutches!
    • Campaign: The Slimer Situation, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Burst Gate
    • Description: As they close, Ghosts come pouring out.
    • Campaign: The Slimer Situation, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 1 Stream
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
    • When Closed: Three Ghosts from the Spirit World emerge from that Gate!
  • Name: Tribute Gate
    • Description: As you may deposit Ghosts into Gates as an offering to the Spirit World.
    • Campaign: The Slimer Situation, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: --
    • To Close: Deposit a Boogaloo Manifestation into an Open Gate to close it.
  • Name: Slime Gate
    • Description: As they end to spew a lot of Slime, even when closed!
    • Campaign: The Slimer Situation, Scenario #4, Slimer Sticks Around
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: You get Slimed, and a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Flank Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that emerge often appear right next to the Ghostbusters.
    • Campaign: The Idulnas Incursion, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Ghostbuster.
  • Name: Sprint Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that they produce are racing towards you... and once you're surrounded, things w ill go from bad to worse!
    • Campaign: The Idulnas Incursion, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate. Then it also moves 1 space towards the Goal spaces.
  • Name: Quake Gate
    • Description: As they cause tons of tectonic trauma while active.
    • Campaign: The Idulnas Incursion, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 1 Stream
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Achilles Gate
    • Description: As they are impervious until the Ecto-1's built-in Dimensionometer is nearby.
    • Campaign: The Idulnas Incursion, Scenario #4 and Idulnas' Interference
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Displace Gate
    • Description: As they cause the Ghostbusters to switch spaces with each other.
    • Campaign: The Stay Puft Show Down Campaign, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: 3 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate, and then that Ghostbuster exchanges spaces with that Ghost (if able).
  • Name: Verge Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that emerge from them are on the verge of running away... permanently!
    • Campaign: The Stay Puft Show Down Campaign, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate. Then it also moves 1 space towards the nearest edge of the map.
  • Name: Vanish Gate
    • Description: As sometimes Ghosts will vanish into thin air when they get too far away from the Gates.
    • Campaign: The Stay Puft Show Down Campaign, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 Streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate, then move each Ghost within Line of Sight of that Gate 1 space away.
  • Name: Exodus Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts and Stay Puft are looking to book it off the map!
    • Campaign: The Stay Puft Show Down Campaign, Scenario #4
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 1 Stream per Open Gate
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate. Then it also moves 1 space towards The Goal.
  • Name: Fury Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that pop out of them are furious and looking for trouble!
    • Campaign: Stay Puft Stays Put
    • To Hit: 3 or higher, add a Stream.
    • To Close: 3 streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate, and then it moves 1 space towards the nearest Ghostbuster. Remember: If the Ghost re-enters the Gate space, it continues moving.
  • Name: Slumber Gate
    • Description: As they often cause you to drift off into the land of nod!
    • Campaign: The Sedgewick Scramble, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: 4 add a Stream, and then wake up each Asleep Ghostbuster within Line of Sight of that Gate.
    • To Close: 2 streams
    • When Missed: That Ghostbuster becomes Asleep, and then a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Ghostbuster.
  • Name: Fear Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that emerge from them scare the snot out of you! You might even be too scared to shoot at them.
    • Campaign: The Sedgewick Scramble, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 1 stream
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate. That Ghostbuster cannot perform Combat Actions against Ghosts of that name during the following round.
  • Name: Enrage Gate
    • Description: As the Ghosts that emerge from them are chasing down Ghostbusters left and right!
    • Campaign: The Sedgewick Scramble, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: 3 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 3 streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate, and then moves 1 space towards that Ghostbuster.
  • Name: Boogie Gate
    • Description: Since a missed shot brings you a deadly dance partner!
    • Campaign: The Sedgewick Scramble, Scenario #4
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream
    • To Close: 2 streams
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Ghostbuster.
  • Name: Terror Gate
    • Description: The only way to defeat these Terror Dogs is to force them through Gates to the Spirit World, and both must go at the same time! A Key is nothing without a Lock.
    • Campaign: Researching Spook Central, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream, and then any Terror Dogs adjacent to that Gate are placed into the Spirit World.
    • To Close: 1 stream
    • When Missed: Any Terror Dogs within Line of Sight of that Gate moves 1 space away, and then a Ghost emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Align Gate
    • Description: Since the only time to defeat "The Sleeper Beneath" is to time it just right and close Gates while it is standing next to them.
    • Campaign: Researching Spook Central, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: Count the number of Closed Gates, then add 1 to that value. Roll that number or higher to add a Stream to an Align Gate.
    • To Close: 1 stream
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Beckon Gate
    • Description: They beckon very powerful Ghosts from the Spirit World with regularity!
    • Campaign: Researching Spook Central, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: 3 or higher, add a stream, and then a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
    • To Close: 2 streams
    • When Missed: The highest-Class Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
  • Name: Unison Gate
    • Description: They require perfect Stream crossing to close!
    • Campaign: Researching Spook Central, Scenario #4
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a stream
    • To Close: 4 streams from 4 Ghostbusters
    • When Closed: Deposit all Trapped Ghosts into the Spirit World
    • When Missed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate, and then push that Ghostbuster 1 space away
  • Name: Delivery Gate
    • Description: They only respond when you deposit trapped Ghosts into the Ecto-1 while it's nearby.
    • Campaign: Kickstarter Add-On, Scenario #1
    • To Hit: --
    • To Close: While the Ecto-1 is adjacent to a Gate and a combined total of 3 Ghost Classes are deposited into the Ecto-1 in a single turn, close it.
    • When Closed: Close each open Gate.
    • When Missed: A Ghost must emerge from the Spirit World and none are present.
  • Name: Avalanche Gate
    • Description: They only respond when you deposit trapped Ghosts into the Ecto-1 while it's nearby.
    • Campaign: Kickstarter Add-On, Scenario #2
    • To Hit: 3 or higher, add a Stream, and then a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
    • To Close: 2 Streams.
    • When Missed: FOUR Ghosts from the Spirit World emerge: One from that Gate, one from that Ghost, one from that Ghost, and then one from that Ghost.
    • When Closed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges onto that Closed Gate (do not roll for movement unless that space is occupied).
  • Name: Twofold Gate
    • Description: They often spit out two Ghosts at a time!
    • Campaign: Kickstarter Add-On, Scenario #3
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream, and then a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
    • To Close: 2 Streams.
    • When Missed: Two Ghosts from the Spirit World emerge from that Ghostbuster.
    • When Closed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges onto that Closed Gate (do not roll for movement unless that space is occupied).
  • Name: Barricade Gate
    • Description: The Ghosts can form a veritable wall around this type of Gate on occasion.
    • Campaign: Kickstarter Add-On, Scenario #4
    • To Hit: 4 or higher, add a Stream, and then a Ghost from the Spirit World emerges from that Gate.
    • To Close: 2 Streams.
    • When Missed: One Ghost from the Spirit World of each different class emerges from that Gate.
    • When Closed: A Ghost from the Spirit World emerges onto that Closed Gate (do not roll for movement unless that space is occupied).
