The Spirit of Detroit is a city monument comprised of a large bronze statue created by Marshall Fredericks. It is located at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center on Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan. The gilt bronze sphere emanating rays of light are meant to symbolize God.
The Spirit of Detroit has been the subject of speculation and local pranks suggesting it is more alive than inanimate. However, it was never confirmed if the Spirit is victim to possession or mere animation by an unseen entity.
