On December 9, Wally went to Sheriff Frank Kelly at the Rhinebeck Village Police Department to report his son's and his encounter with the Zwarte Pieten. Wally was adamant there was supernatural activity involved and not pranks conducted by high school students. He revealed Burt Higgins, Lois Campbell and even the Hutchinsons had seen things. Kelly was unsure of what he could do to help but Wally revealed he called the Ghostbusters.
